The ladies Philoptochos Society at Metamamorphsis is a group of dedicated, faithful, industrious and energetic women who work diligently to support charitable causes and make a positive impact in our community.
As the cost of living continues to rise, more people are finding it difficult to put food on their table, and traditions are becoming more costly to maintain. The Ladies Philoptochos Society, Metamorphosis GOC Chapter, in partnership with Toronto Greek Orthodox Family Services, founded this food drive, a Christian effort founded by faith and love, bringing the spirit of compassion and hope to those in need, and ensuring that no family is left behind during these meaningful seasons. This initiative, supported by the generous donations from our community, feeds over 200 families biannually, during Thanksgiving and Pascha.
The Metamorphosis GOC Philoptochos, in collaboration with Greek Orthodox Family Services, has once again come together to create a heartfelt initiative known as the Santa Project. Rooted in the spirit of Christian love the Santa Project is dedicated to bringing joy to children whose families are facing financial hardship. Each year, donors receive a “wish list” carefully written by the children, allowing them to become a part of this special mission by purchasing the requested gifts. These unwrapped treasures are brought to the church, where a team of dedicated “elves” lovingly wrap and deliver them to each family. This initiative not only ensures that no child is left without a gift during the season of giving, but it also reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas, the light of Christ’s love shining in the darkness, bringing hope, joy, and the warmth of community to those in need.
The Ladies Philoptochos Society of Metamorphosis Church is renowned for their delectable homemade cookies, baked with care and tradition. These sought-after treats are not just a delight for the taste buds but also a labour of love that fuels their mission. Proceeds from cookie sales fund a variety of impactful initiatives, including supporting the less fortunate, maintaining and repairing the church, and nurturing the Sunday School program. Through their tireless efforts in the kitchen, these dedicated women blend faith, community, and philanthropy into every bite.
